If I were I younger, I'd sent this to the junkyard and buy a Toyota. These cost several thousand dollars to make the car driveable. I made about a 2 hour trip, and around 10 minutes from our destination, the CEL came on and it started running a little rough. It has run flawlessly up until yesterday. I bought a 2006 Escape 3.0L about 3 months ago from a used car lot. The 2005 Ford Escape is the smallest SUV that Ford made for this model year and it doesnt have quite the towing capacity that some of the larger SUVs are capable of. I know this is an old thread, but this seems to be similar to the problem I am having. Its home in my garage now, codes showing are PO354, PO352, PO356. If my escape wasn't in such good shape and i didn't have so much invested now i would stop. Was told maybe the PCM wasn't updated properly, sent it away again, it came back put it back in same issue. Was told the air filter needed to be replaced, did that cleared the codes same thing happened again, was told there could be a broken wire, usually within 3" of the PCM, didn't replace the harness but peeled all the shielding back and looked for a broken wire nothing broke. Everything was put on It started and ran fine, drove it for about 10 mins and the engine light came on and it started running rough. The COP's and Plugs were all replaced with new OEM parts. The PCM was shipped away, repaired and updated. No surprise to me i had read about this from many others. I took it to the garage and was told the PCM was bad. A month ago it started running very poorly, wouldn't go over 60, multiple dash lights on. Hi everyone, I have a 2005 Escape XLT and its excellent condition. ![]()
